What we look for in a dog 
 

1) Breed: Using the right breed of dog makes a big difference. Types of breeds are:

  • German Shepherd
  • Dutch Shepherd
  • Malinois
  • Retriever
  • Golden Retriever
  • Vieslas
  • Border Collie
  • Chesapeake Bay Retriever
  • And of course our friends

2) Age: Dogs must be 14 months to 3 years of age and no older.

3) Well Socialized: A dog must show complete confidence in any situation, buildings, crowds, loud noise, woods, small enclosed areas, different types of flooring, tile, linoleum, wood, carpet, slippery floors, noisy floors. These things should not alarm, or distract the dog.

4) Must be a crazy retriever. Retrieve drive must be very strong and dog should be willing to retrieve under any circumstance. he should be very eager to find the article that was thrown for him.

5) Clean bill of health: Dog must be free of any hip, elbow or spine disorders.

6) Male or Female, Spay/Neuter o.k.

7) Dog should have as little training as possible. The less the dog knows the better I like it. All I look for is a dog who loves to use his nose and enjoys the retrieve game.
